Accessibility statement for the Online Civil Money Claims service
This accessibility statement applies to https://www.moneyclaims.service.gov.uk/ (opens in a new window) . This service allows you to make a money claim against an individual or an organisation for £25,000 or less.
This website is run by HM Courts and Tribunals Services (HMCTS). We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, you should be able to:
- change colours, contrast levels and fonts
- zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
- navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
- navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
- listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent version of VoiceOver)
We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.
AbilityNet (opens in a new window) has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.
How accessible this website is
We know some parts of this service are not fully accessible. The digital service is accessible and meets the WCAG 2.2 AA standard. However, some features are not accessible because:
- Error messages are not specific to the field where the error was made.
- The tabbing order on some pages do not map to the visual order.
- The feedback link is not contextually clear that it will open in another tab.

Technical information about this website’s accessibility
HMCTS is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
Compliance status
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 (opens in a new window) AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.
Non-accessible content
The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.
Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations
Screen reader users might have difficulty navigating error messages as some error messages are not specific to the field where the error was made. This fails WCAG 2.2 [3.3.1] success criterion (Error Identification).
Screen reader/Keyboard users might have difficulty navigating the screen where they are required to provide unavailable dates as the remove button is not visually present but appears in the tabbing order. This fails WCAG 2.4.2 success criterion (Focus order).
Opening the ‘feedback’ link causes users to move to a new tab without warning. This may be confusing for screen reader users who may be unaware that they have moved to a new tab. This fails WCAG 2.4.6 success criterion (Link Purpose (In Context)).
How we tested this website
This website was internally tested by the HMCTS Accessibility Team for compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2 level A and level AA.
We also ran automated accessibility testing as part of our development practices.
What we’re doing to improve accessibility
We plan to fix these issues by early 2025.
We continually run automated accessibility testing as part of our development practices. This helps us to resolve issues before we launch new pages or features.
This website will also be tested by the Digital Accessibility Centre (DAC) in late 2024.
